Realtek rtl8192eu official Linux driver v5.2.19.1 This should get it running, but it is not a guarantee and other adapter choices are both more likely to work and simpler to setup.
You can also create a hostpot, ad-hoc or station mode network with the command: nm. On the top right click on wifi symbol and the network must appear (my internal adapter and the USB adapter in my case). The first thing to notice is that the led is going green.
cd rtl8192eu-linux-driver make clean make sudo make install Testing connection. I have also tried running it on a RPi3, but the RPi3 does not seem to support monitor mode. Other adapters also include and rtl8192cu and Atheros ath9k chipsets. (pci-e) which is a rtl8192ce chipset (as are most). I have the desktop linux system running wireshark in monitor mode, and have not been able to capture any data packets.
