You can set custom DPI under Resolution settings if you select the Photo upscale type. If you upload the image with a different DPI value, the output DPI would be rewritten to 300, in case you don’t change the settings. Our default DPI is 300 for all operations. When editing photos with Let’s Enhance, you can set your desired DPI metadata value and resolution. You can check the output DPI value below the resolution in the uploader. How to increase DPI of your photo for bigger and sharper prints with Let’s Enhance Step 1. Traditional photo editors use old upscaling algorithms that reduce image quality and lose details.īut with our AI-based technology, you can almost magically add more pixels to your source photo. Now, increasing the resolution wasn’t really a thing up until recently. Takeaway: For higher DPI and better print quality - increase the total amount of pixels in your digital picture. Image at 100, 200, and 300 DPI / PPIĬheck how the print size changes depending on the resolution and DPI in the table below. Having higher resolution in your source file allows to cram more pixels in every inch of your photo. In this particular example - to 3000 x 2400 pixels. In this case, you need to increase the resolution of your image. Let’s say you want to print this 1000 x 800 file as a 10 x 8 photo at 300 DPI. So reducing your print size is one way to increase the DPI and make your photo look sharper.īut what if you don’t want to compromise on size? With that same file, you’ll get a 167 DPI for a smaller, 6x4 inch picture. And the actual pixel density would be 100, whether the DPI value is set to 72, 300, or 1000. In this case, you’ll have 100 pixels for every inch.
Your printing software will calculate the DPI based on your source file’s resolution, when you choose the print size.įor example, you have an image file with 1000 x 800 resolution, and you want to print it as a 10 by 8-inch photo.
Open Finder and go to your image location.
Image properties in Windows File Explorer Right-click on the file and select Properties > Details.
It is stored in the image file along with the date, time, camera model, etc. Image DPI metadata vs pixel density: what to increase?ĭPI metadata sets the recommended default pixel density for printing. Next, we’ll explain what tool would be the best in your case and how to use it.

Thanks for taking the time to read until the end of my Instructable. The last photo shows how the print looked after trimmed the margins and taped the pieces together. The photo with the very large gaps between the sheets shows how the pages looked immediately after I trimmed the margin. I remove the margin by cutting right up to the end of the printed lines with a pair of scissors. It is much easier to assemble if you remove the margin first. This margin makes it very difficult to precisely align the pages together. If you look closely at the print you will notice that there is a small margin between the end of the printed lines and the edge of the paper. The first photos shows how the pages looked immediately after I removed them from the printer. After the paper comes out of your printer you will have to assemble the pieces together.
